Weekend Get-a-way

Friday night after work, I relaxed in my apartment, cooked dinner and watched a good movie! But at 10 pm my night came to life! I met with the Guardian Angels from 10pm to 2am...we recently received bicycles :) so we spent our late night, roaming the streets, protecting the innocent and seeking out crime!! (ok maybe I exaggerate a little...but to say the least, it was a strenuous workout and a lot of fun!) I wish that I was able to bring my camera with me so I could capture the breath taking scenes. We rode back alleyways most people would never dare to go even in the daylight. The sights I saw were heartbreaking, young children half naked and dirty playing in the streets alone in the midnight hours. The drunkards come out at night to roam their playground, the streets. Once the sun goes down, the lifeless arise. Sad souls out of their natural minds scream, "I see you! I see you!" as we pass by. I looked at the depressed faces of those who have made drugs and alcohol their gods; they were not able to even look us in the eye. Some scream insults, others beep and wave. While riding through the City's ghetto I felt as though I was in a third world country! Some streets smelled awful, trash spread everywhere, yet for the ones sitting on their steps out side, this has become a familiar place..their lifestyle, their home. As we rode in silence, I prayed to God that His light and love would invade their darkness and they be set free from the power of the enemy!.....oh God, bring revival to this City!

Saturday and Sunday my family and I camped near our home to celebrate my grandparents 50 anniversary! We had a great time together, all the children were there, we hung out at the lake most of the day. That night we watched fireworks by the water line :)

During the weekend, God aligned three different divine appointments, opportunities to give hope to individuals. One was a young boy only 15 years of age, hopeless and desperate for love. I ran into a family member at the lake whom I have not seen for a few months, and the other was a young man about 30, a single parent, who was obviously seeking for answers to the 'whys' in his life. There is nothing sweeter than watching the countenance of people's faces change as the love of God is poured out over them! Hope begins to shine through their dark and lonely eyes. This weekend, I was so humbled by the power and love of Jesus.

Life is so good :)
